Berry Smoothie

  • bananas
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • mixed greens: baby spinach, baby kale, chard
  • chia seeds
  • Lakewood brand mango nectar
    • Available at Whole Foods Market
  • Lakewood brand Pure Pineapple Juice
    • Available at Whole Foods Market
  • Whole Foods Market has a 3 lb. bag of frozen blueberries.
  • Some combination of all the ingredients can be frozen. I use frozen bananas, blueberries, strawberries and greens.
  • Using frozen ingredients has two benefits. One, it's easier than keeping fresh food around before it spoils. Two, the fozen fruit makes the smoothie cold without adding ice.
  • If all ingredients are fresh I would freeze the juices into cubes so that the smoothie is cold.
  • Always use quality fruit juices without added sugar, like the Lakewood juices.
  • Before freezing, I cut strawberries in half at an angle to leave the green leaves in place. The leaves are edible and have nutrients, so I put them in the smoothie.
  1. Add about 8-10 ounces of juice to pitcher first.
  2. Add about 1-1/2 cups of blueberries.
  3. Add a couple handfuls of greens.
  4. Add strawberries.
  5. Add bananas.
  6. Add lemon juice and chia seeds.
  7. Blend.
